The Moscow Maryino Roshchinsky Jewish Community, with the support of the International Humanitarian Public Foundation "Knowledge" named after Academician K.V. Frolov, published the "Pentateuch" ("Khumash", Torah) as part of the book series "Library of Jewish Texts". The world's best Russian-speaking specialists in biblical and Jewish studies and translations of ancient Hebrew texts were involved in the work on the project. As a result, the creative team created a unique translation based on the best examples of previous works, and also compiled extensive commentary on the work. The artistic design of the "Pentateuch" was handled by the famous designer Andrey Bondarenko. This edition includes both a new translation of the Pentateuch of Moses and Aftarot - fragments from the books of the Prophets, completing the reading of the weekly section of the Torah in the synagogue and thematically related to this section. The goal of the new translation is to offer the reader a literary Russian text of the Bible, semantically as close as possible to the ancient Hebrew original. The translation is in line with the Jewish tradition; it is oriented not towards biblical studies and Hebraic studies, but towards Jewish exegesis, primarily towards the classical medieval commentary of Rashi.
